Department of Marathi

Introduction

The department of Marathi was started with establishment of college in 1993. Marathi is a regional language of the Maharashtra. It is a language of opportunities. To know the culture and develop the writing skill it is very necessary to learn regional language by grammatically. Marathi is used in administrative language of Maharashtra so importance of Marathi cannot be denied. At present there are three faculty members are imparting their knowledge to the student.

 

Objectives of the Department

The objectives of the department of Marathi are closely related to those of the University as a whole, but also reflect the special nature of our discipline and our commitment to literature, language and the arts. Following are the major objectives of the department

  • To develop reading, writing and speaking skills among the students.
  • To enable the students to know the role of Marathi literature in social life .
  • To prepare student for the competitive exam like NET, SET, MPSC.
  • To aware student about the Indian culture and literature in Marathi of the Maharashtra.
  • To provide practical knowledge to students about Folk Tradition, Sant Sahitya, Dalit Sahitya, Lok Sahitya, Adivasi Literature and various regional culture and tradition etc.

Course offered by the Department

The department offers the Marathi language as the Second Langauge to the Art, Commerce and Science faculty student at UG level as well as the Marathi is an optional subject to the Arts student at UG level.

Future plan

  • To develop the departmental library.
  • To undertake Minor / Major research project by UGC.
  • To arrange National conference / Seminars.
