Introduction

The study of history is an important component of a meaningful and comprehensive liberal arts education. As such our major provides a unique opportunity for students to understand how the past informs our understanding of the present. The history major encompasses a series of courses that examine human dynamics, overtime, from disciplinary and interdisciplinary prospective.In addition to focusing on content; the history major develops and enhances discipline specific skill that will survey in any future endeavours.

The department of history was started with establishment of college in 1993 taking into account the unique role played by history study for development of the nation and without knowing history, you can’t judge the culture and the nature of that nation so the institution has taken the remarkable decision to offer history as the optional subject for the B.A.

Objectives of the Department

The department of history was started with the following objectives.

• To develop interest in history education among the students.
• To enable the students to know the role of history education in the development of nation.
• To develop interest in a historical research among the students
• To prepare students for the competitive exam like NET SET MPSC STI and banking.
• To provide practical knowledge to student about historical aspects and the culture and tradition of the region and nation.

The department offers history as an optional subject to the Arts students on UG level.
